Noran was originally designed and built as an all purpose fish farm starting with Silver Perch for the restaurant trade. After some eight years growing and marketing Silver Perch very successfully, the Wall family decided to change to a new direction. Aquarium fish and Goldfish were investigated and trialed alongside Kylie’s passion of some 24 years the beautiful " Koi " fish.
Norm spent a lot of his working time travelling to the USA. During time off Noran visited all types of fish farms, from food fish with massive tonnage, to billions of bait fish. The highlights of these excursions were meeting the Saylor family. Mick and Susan, still close friends of the family, also visiting Australia and Noran Fish Farms. Mike (A Biologist) had over three hundred acres of water, growing catfish and breeding huge numbers of Koi and Goldfish. Mike openly imparted all his ' Fish Husbandry' knowledge onto Norm during many weekends on their farm.
While living in California for two years Norm seized an opportunity to join The San Francisco Koi Club. While with the club he completed ‘The California Koi Seminar’ (12 month Course) with the world renowned Japanese Koi Judge Mr Grant Fujita.
With all this knowledge learnt on Judging and breeding Koi, added to Noran’s Fish Husbandry, and Kylie's Passion, Noran is now totally DEDICATED to breeding the best Koi possible for the passionate Koi Hobbyist to enjoy.
